November Update
3301 Mateo Prado, Camino Ecuestre, MM Park, Candelaria & Rio Grande
3301 Mateo Prado:
3301
Mateo Prado will come before the City Council this Monday, November 16
at the council meeting. The council will vote to tear down the
property due to its public nuisance and the owners unwillingness to
resolve the issues with the property. Over 100 households in the
neighborhood signed the petition to tear down the property. This is
the last step in the process. Tom Baca has been the engine that has
seen this process through. Thanks for all of his hard work and
vigilance in the matter. If you would like to attend the council
meeting in support or opposition, please plan to attend. Call 311 for
exact times and locations of the council meeting.
Camino Ecuestre:
The
tract of land that borders the east side of the S curve along Camino
Ecuestre is slated to be landscaped and protected with barriers this
week. The Councilwoman O'Malley dedicated the funds to improve this
eye sore and safety risk (cars drive up the ditch and cause many
problems for neighbors). A big thanks to all the neighbors that this
impacts for starting and pushing for this a few years ago.
Matthew Meadow Park:
On
behalf of the neighborhood families that utilize play equipment at the
park, I requested that a sun shade be put up to cover the play
equipment. This is critical because during the spring, summer and fall
months, the play equipment is not useable during the heat of the day.
Councilwoman O'Malley has secured the funds to construct this shade
equipment and the city parks department is slated to begin work in
January or February. The city also may have enough funds to construct
a shaded picnic area connected to the park as well. If anyone has any
objections or suggestions, please contact me.
Candelaria/Rio Grande Intersection
A
Public Meeting has been scheduled by the City of Albuquerque concerning
proposed improvements to the Rio Grande and Candelaria intersection.
The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on December 2, at Los Griegos
Community Center. The City will do its own notification about the
meeting as well and the City's Department of Municipal Development will
handle the presentation.One
of the proposed improvements to the intersection is to construct a
single lane roundabout that is pedestrian and bicycle friendly.
